C-Bus is a sophisticated lighting automation system featuring a range of stylish switches, dimmers, relays, and interfaces. It supports seamless integration with DALI lighting and other smart systems, and can also be conveniently controlled via a mobile app.
C-Bus has been sold in the UK since before the turn of the century. It is a brand name for Clipsal equipment. C-Bus uses 2 (x2) wire 30V bus communication between devices along a C-Bus branded pink CAT5 cable. C-Bus equipment is manufactured by Clipsal in Australia. Clipsal has been owned by Schneider Electric since 2003/2004.
As of 2023, Schneider Electric has dropped UK support for the product. It is believed that Schneider may eventually rebrand the entire C-Bus product range. New products are now being released under the Spacelogic name, with a visual shift from blue to green. C-Bus maintains a strong presence in Australia, and core components are expected to remain available, albeit potentially sourced internationally.
In the UK, a small number of suppliers continue to hold stock. However, with official support withdrawn, finding experienced C-Bus integrators and installers has become increasingly difficult. It is estimated that over 35,000 properties in the UK have C-Bus systems installed.
